Resources for New Graduate Students

Welcome

We are happy that you have decided to begin graduate studies in Mathematics at the University of Kansas. We have a number of meetings and activities designed to help you as you begin your graduate studies. Please read through the linked materials carefully.

Graduate teaching assistants (GTA) will assume their responsibilities on August 18, 2024.

Some of the meetings you should be aware of are:

• Graduate Teaching Assistant mandatory activities

  • New GTA Orientation, begins online on August 5th (The Welcome Session on August 19 is in-person). You must complete all three components: Policy Tutorial, Remote Conference (Essential Modules and Breakout Modules) and Follow-up Session to maintain GTA status.

• Mathematics Department mandatory activities - August 19-23rd

Employment documents should be completed and submitted before August 18th, 2024 in order to receive your first paycheck on time. Most of these documents are online.

We have also provided links to the Office of Graduate Studies, International Student Services, Human Resources and Student Health Services.

The Mathematics Department will pay the orientation fee ($240) and ISS check-in fee ($35) for the international students to attend the New International Student Orientation. Just follow the enrollment procedures at the Office of International Student Services website.

When you arrive at KU, please check-in at the Mathematics Department office, no later than August 18th. We are excited to have you here and look forward to working with you.
