KU Student Chapter of Association for Women in Math

The student chapter's purpose is to encourage women in all areas of mathematics.

AWM Chapter Website

The purpose of the AWM Student Chapter at KU is to encourage women and girls to study mathematical sciences, to advocate for and promote women in mathematical sciences, to build an important network among women in STEM disciplines at KU, and to inspire women and girls to follow their academic interests to careers in mathematical sciences.

The AWM at KU is a very active student-run organization that is based in the Department of Mathematics. We are the fourth student chapter in the country. Our student members are mostly STEM majors.

Our organization is open to all: women and men, students and faculty. We hold bi-weekly meetings and organize bi-weekly presentations and conversations throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

We serve Lawrence and the Kansas community by making important contributions through various outreach activities during the National Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month (MSAM) such as the MAM Math Competition and the MAM Workshops for 5th graders.
