This is a course on some methods in actuarial mathematics. The theory of interest is developed extensively with the analysis of annuities, amortization and bonds. Life contingencies are studied for the analysis of life annuities and life insurance. An introduction to option pricing is given. This course covers many of the topics that are addressed in the Financial Mathematics Exam that is administered by the two societies of actuaries. Actuarial careers have been ranked annually by Jobs Rated Almanac as one of the top five professions for more than the last twenty years, for example, last year it was ranked first.
